The recent attacks in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, which claimed the lives of over 60 innocent Nigerians, according to reports, have left a deep scar on the hearts of citizens.

Africare Peace Initiative is deeply saddened by this tragedy and stands in solidarity with the families affected by the unfortunate incident .
We urge government, security agencies, and all relevant stakeholders to prioritize the safety and well-being of the people of Bokkos. This community has suffered greatly, losing loved ones, property and constantly living in fear. It is time to take decisive steps to address this crisis and ensure that no community in Plateau State has to endure such pain again.
As an organisation:
- We call on the government to set priority on Bokkos and urgently protect communities to prevent further attacks on the people.
- We call on security agencies to work hard in identifying and neutralizing threats before they escalate. The early warning signals in Bokkos would have been prevented and the attacks would not have escalated if actions were taken earlier.
- There is urgent need for Humanitarian assistance in Bokkos, including food items, medical care, trauma counseling, and financial support to help grieving families heal and rebuild their lives.
- We appeal to leaders to seek ways for dialogue and reconciliation among communities, in order to prevent future crises. Long-term peace requires addressing issues like disputes, ethnic tensions, and poverty.
Africare Peace Initiative stands in solidarity with families affected in the Bokkos attack, who lost their loved ones and property. We appeal to President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Caleb Mutfwang and all relevant authorities to prioritize peacebuilding and conflict resolutions in Plateau State.
