On Thursday, March 13, 2025, we participated in the 2025 International Women’s Day (IWD) commemoration, held at Odilin’s Event Center, Jos, Plateau State. The event was organized by the Women and Girl Child Rescue and Development Initiative (WGRDI) in partnership with Women Peace and Security Network and supported by Women for Women International.

This year’s theme, “For All Women and Girls: Rights. Equity. Empowerment – ACCELERATE ACTION,” emphasized the need for urgent and collective efforts to advance women’s rights, bridge gender gaps, and foster inclusion.

The event was focused on promoting women’s rights and empowerment. Speakers encouraged women to use digital tools, get involved in politics, and speak up about issues like substance abuse and legal rights. They also discussed major challenges such as poverty, lack of education, unfair laws, and gender-based violence. The importance of self-improvement and confidence was also highlighted as key to making a difference. Overall, the event stressed the need for quick action to create a fair and equal society for all women and girls.

Africare Peace Initiative was ably represented at the event by a dedicated member of our team, Mrs. Joy Galadima Ashin.

At Africare, we remain committed to promoting gender equality and ensuring that women and girls in Nigeria have the resources and opportunities needed to thrive. Our participation in the Women Peace and Security Network continues to strengthen our impact, allowing us to advocate for policies and programs that empower women for a more just and inclusive society.
