Women and youth charged to give peace a chance

We were invited to the Youth FORB Conference 2025, in Jos, organized by Search for Common Ground, in partnership with Dialogue, Reconciliation and Peace (DREP) centre and the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN).

The event took place at Crispan Hotel in Jos, Plateau State and brought together peacebuilders from Kaduna and Plateau States, alongside youth and women leaders, for a day of meaningful dialogue and shared learning.

The conference began with prayers and a warm welcome from Dr. Julie Sanda, DG of PPBA (represented by Mr. Jonathan Nantip), followed by opening remarks from Dr. Godwin Okoko. The keynote address by Dr. Yakubu Joseph, Country Director of Mission 21, highlighted the vital need for freedom of religion and belief (FORB), and understanding across communities.

Highlight of the event included:- Group discussions on the past, present, and future of FORB in Nigeria

A lively session on the key roles of women and youth in promoting peaceful coexistence and mutual respect

Inspiring performances – poetry and a colorful dance drama by Stone Ezel Art Academy, which showcased Nigeria’s beautiful cultural mix and the importance of embracing diversity. Participants gave heartfelt feedback and their commitment to the ideas shared during the event.

The event wrapped up in a closing summary by the PPBA representative. The program ended with lunch and goodbyes, as everyone left energized to play their part in building a more peaceful and united Nigeria.
