In our efforts to foster peace in conflict-prone communities, our organization visited Miango community in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, where we trained 33 vulnerable Christian and Muslim women and teenage girls in cosmetology and pastry-making.
This initiative was aimed at providing the women with skills that can give them a source of income for themselves and their families, as many of them are survivors of violent conflicts in the region.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The training took place from November 28th – 29th, 2022, under ‘Operation Blessing,’ an initiative by The Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) in Abuja \u2013 the project sponsor. The goal of this sponsor was to provide a means of livelihood for these women and teenage girls.
During the training, we conducted a ‘Peace Education’ session, led by Rachel Nuhu Birma, the Executive Director of API, where she spoke to the participants on the need for ‘Positive Peace,’ a concept of peace from the Institute for Economics & Peace (IEP), which emphasizes the importance of living together in harmony, by accepting each other and treating each other with dignity.
The women learned how to make various items, including liquid soap, pomade, doughnuts, fish rolls, and red and yellow Zobo drinks.
On the first day of the training, the District Head of Miango and other traditional leaders and their wives attended the event to show their support and appreciation. The participants were excited for this initiative.
We remain immensely grateful to CBN for making this project a huge success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
