RACHEL NUHU BIRMA<\/h2>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"ekit-team-modal-position\">TRUSTEE MEMBER<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"ekit-team-modal-content\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tMs. Rachel Nuhu Birma is the founder and Executive Director of Africare Peace Initiative, an organization dedicated to promoting peace, empowering vulnerable women and girls, and equipping young people with education and vocational skills.\n\nRachel's journey began with her education in Television Journalism at the NTA Television College, Jos, where her passion for storytelling emerged. She worked with Stefanos Foundation, where she covered the stories of conflict-ridden communities and gave voice to survivors of crises in Nigeria's North and middle belt regions. This experience deepened her desire to create sustainable solutions for conflict prevention and resolution.\n\nDriven by her passion to amplify her impact, Rachel pursued a B.Sc. in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolutions at the National Open University of Nigeria. Her dedication to peacebuilding and social change is evident in her active involvement in policy advocacy through the Open Government Partnership (OGP), Plateau State, and her leadership in Africare Peace Initiative. Under her leadership, the foundation has helped over 12,000 individuals and secured the release of 842 innocent inmates from Nigerian prisons. Oluyemi's dedication to justice and human rights has earned her several accolades, including being named one of the BBC 100 Most Inspiring Women in the World in 2021 and the Kindest Lawyer in the World by Nas Daily Media in 2022. In 2024, she was honored with the European Union Sounding Board and Kingdom of Netherlands Youth Innovation Award in the Peace and Human Rights Category. Her journey began in Omuo Ekiti, a rural town in Ekiti State, Nigeria, where she was inspired by her father to pursue education. Alhassan is a passionate leader dedicated to peacebuilding and women's empowerment in Nigeria. She is the Chairleader of the Plateau Women Peace Initiative, who has played an important role in bringing communities together and promoting peace in a region that has been plagued by many conflicts.
