Building Stronger Relationship with Operation Safe Haven, Jos

On May 31, 2024, we were part of a delegation, led by Mr. Pwakim Jacob Choji, Chairman of the Plateau State Peace Practitioners Network, for a meeting hosted by Maj.-Gen. Abdulsalami Ibrahim, Commander of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) and GOC Third Armoured Division in Jos.

The meeting was focused on finding effective ways to make Plateau State safer and to address the wave of violence in the state. Various deliberations were covered on the persistent cycles of violence affecting various parts of the state, despite over two decades of efforts by the government and other stakeholders to resolve the conflicts. Maj.-Gen. Abdulsalami Ibrahim emphasized the importance of collaboration among security agencies to strengthen security measures in the state.

OPSH is a special military task force responsible for maintaining peace in Plateau, as well as parts of Kaduna and Bauchi States. The task force, established in 2010, comprises the Nigerian Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), and the Department of State Security (DSS). The force has been actively involved in various operations to combat criminal activities in the state.
